UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 March 9, 2018 ALL AGREEMENT AND NON-AGREEMENT STATES STATE LIAISON OFFICERS TRIBES WITHIN 50 MILES OF REACTORS NOTIFICATION OF AN UPCOMING WEBINAR ON COUNTERFEIT, FRAUDULENT, AND SUSPECT ITEMS (STC-18-018)
Purpose:
To provide notification that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff will conduct a webinar on NRCs agency-wide approach to address counterfeit, fraudulent, and suspect items (CFSI) on May 10, 2018, as part of the ongoing State Liaison Officers webinar training series.
Background:
Motivations to willingly misrepresent the quality of a component destined for a commercial nuclear facility are similar today as they were in the past, but the current environment adds the complexity of a global supply chain and internet procurement. CFSI exists in industrial supply chains, and we feel it is important to address these challenges.
Discussion: The NRC continues to seek ways to provide technical support for training and to engage States and Tribes on topics. Falsification and misrepresentation of materials has challenged the nuclear community. The webinar will present the NRCs agency-wide approach to addressing threats from counterfeit, fraudulent, and suspect items both domestically and internationally.
The webinar is scheduled for May 10, 2018, from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. (ET). Participants must register in advance of the webinar at the following link:
