Thank you for your letter of March 5, 2001, concerning the proposal presented in SECY-01-0009 to make certain revisions to the Reactor Safety Goal Policy Statement. The Commission has disapproved issuance of the revised policy statement at this time.
In a Staff Requirements Memorandum, dated April 16, 2001, the staff was directed to consult with the Commission on a more significant revision to the policy statement in the future, after further progress has been made on the agencys various risk-informed initiatives. When the policy statement is revisited, the Commission will continue to ensure that interested stakeholders are involved in the revision process.

Thank you for your letter of March 5, 2001, concerning the proposal presented in SECY-01-0009 to make certain revisions to the Reactor Safety Goal Policy Statement. The Commission has disapproved issuance of the revised policy statement at this time.

In a Staff Requirements Memorandum, dated April 16, 2001, the staff was directed to consult with the Commission on a more significant revision to the policy statement in the future, after further progress has been made on the agencys various risk-informed initiatives.
