Fish samples** High Priority **Hello Gentlemen, I just spoke with our Contract Lab, re: fish sampling and they normally request a 1 kilogram sample.Their normal fish MDC's are at below 2 pCi/g for Sr-90, and using Cs-1 37 as a marker for gamma spec, they normally see 0.5 pCi/g or better, and possibly <0.1 pCi/g.As I understand it, Entergy MDC for Sr-90 is somewhere between 5 and 25 pCi/kg (0.005 and 0.025 pCi/g).Is NRC planning to specify similar MDC's? If so, please let me know today as I will be out tomorrow and in training next week through Thurs.I will re-connect with our lab and see if they can match it.Thanks, Tim CC: "John White" <JRW1 @nrc.gov>

Fish samples

    • High Priority **

Hello Gentlemen, I just spoke with our Contract Lab, re: fish sampling and they normally request a 1 kilogram sample.

Their normal fish MDC's are at below 2 pCi/g for Sr-90, and using Cs-1 37 as a marker for gamma spec, they normally see 0.5 pCi/g or better, and possibly <0.1 pCi/g.

As I understand it, Entergy MDC for Sr-90 is somewhere between 5 and 25 pCi/kg (0.005 and 0.025 pCi/g).

Is NRC planning to specify similar MDC's? If so, please let me know today as I will be out tomorrow and in training next week through Thurs.

I will re-connect with our lab and see if they can match it.

Thanks, Tim CC: "John White" <JRW1 @nrc.gov>
