MILLSTONE POWER STATION UNIT 2:  SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 72 HOURS DUE TO A TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS REQUIRED SHUTDOWN FOR THE TURBINE DRIVEN AUXILIARY FEEDWATER PUMP 
 
On July 23, 2014, Millstone Power Station Unit 2 entered Technical Specification 3.7.1.1,  Action C, for the turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump due to insufficient pump flow in recirculating mode. At 2:11 p.m. on July 26, 2014, Millstone Unit 2 commenced the shutdown required by Technical Specifications using normal station procedures. Troubleshooting and repairs will continue to attempt to identify and correct the issue. 
 
The unit is currently in Mode 4, and all safety-related systems and equipment required for safe plant shutdown are available.
 
The NRC resident inspectors are closely monitoring Dominion's evaluation and repair activities. 
 
This preliminary notification is issued for information only.
 
Region I received initial notification of this occurrence by telephone call from the licensee at approximately 2:00 p.m. on July 26, 2014. Connecticut officials have been notified.              The information presented herein has been discussed with the licensee and is current as of 11:00 a.m. on July 29, 2014.
