ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION OF SAFETY RELATED ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT NO. 2 UNIT SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-311 PSE&G has reviewed the list of NRC Identified Deficiencies in your letter dated March 6, 1981, concerning environmental qualification of safety related electrical equipment.

We have performed a review of equipment at Salem 2 with regard to environmental qualification in accordance with Bulletin 79-0lB and NUREG-0588.

Our initial report, subsequent mittals, and in-house documentation provides the needed information to support the safe operation of Salem 2. diate corrective actions such as procedural changes and design changes have been completed in those cases where deemed necessary.

Fully qualified replacement equipment will be installed where necessary prior to June 30, 1982 in accordance with the order for modification of license cerning environmental qualifications of safety related trical equipment dated October 30, 1980. We have found the list of deficiencies in your letter to be substantially the same as those considered in our review efforts. Therefore, since appropriate corrective action has been taken we lieve that Salem 2 can continue to operate in a safe manner. The Energy People 95-0942 Dir. of Nuc. Reac.
