Farley Nuclear Plant Vogtle Electric Generating Plant Notification of Fitness for Duty Program Change Ladies and Gentlemen: Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) operates the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, and the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant.
In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 26, SNC has established and maintains the fitness for duty program (FFD) for SNC-operated plants and corporate office.
In accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 26, Appendix A, Subpart A, SNC hereby provides notification of the following change to the SNC FFD program. As part of the SNC FFD program, suspect specimens (e.g., for-cause, follow-up, etc.) are tested by the Health and Human Services (HHS) laboratory at more stringent cut-off levels than those specified in 10 CFR Part 26.
Specifically, SNC utilizes the HHS laboratory level of detection (LOD) as the screening and confirmation cut-off for the SNC FFD program.
As of January 15,2007, the level for confirmation of marijuana by the HHS laboratory has been changed from 1.5 nglrnl to 3.0 ng/d due to revalidation of the THC metabolite confirmation procedure. This change results in the following cut-off values used in the SNC FFD program. / InitiaUConfirmation ScreeningJConfirmation I Substance (Regular)
