Enclosed is an application, XSOU8858, accepted by the US. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on February 1, 2024, from Eckert & Ziegler Isotope Products., requesting the export of three sources. Two sources of thorium-229 (Th-229) with an activity level of 0.000000000524 terabecquerels (TBq), per source, for a total activity level of 0.000000001048 TBq, and one Th-228 source, with a total activity level of 0.0000000096 TBq. The sources will be used in, measuring, research, and calibration of laboratory equipment in China.
 
Before taking action on this request, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the requested export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.
