Dear Mr. Keppler:

This is to provide a revised schedule for completion of our review of cable pulling tension at Byron Generating Station.

In reference (d) we indicated that cable pull reports would be reviewed to assure that the allowable sidwall pressure was not exceeded prior to the implementation of a new procedure on December 17, 1982.

This work was to have been completed January 31, 1983.

At present, a review of a portion of the cable pull reports has been completed.

A number of cables have been identified which appear to i

l have been pulled with tension exceeding the previously established con-servative limits associated with tensile strength and sidewall pressure.

Additional analysis is required before it can be determined whether or not the recorded tensions are acceptable.

This additional analysis is expected to be complete by July 1, 1983.

A report will be provided to the NRC at that time.

Please address further questions regarding this matter to this office.

Very truly yours, W
