SUBJECT:

AMENDMENT N0. 9 TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE R-61 The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 9 to Facility Operating License No. R-61 for the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Research Reactor. The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications in response to your application dated August 10, 1987.

The change to Technical Specification 4.2 includes a new requirement that changes areas above the reactor room, which are normally unrestricted, to restricted if radiation levels in these areas exceed levels specified in 10 CFR Part 20.105.

A copy of the Safety Evaluation is also enclosed.
