REVIEW 0F DRAFT RISK-BASED INSPECTION GUIDE FOR THE AUXILIARY FEEDWATER SYSTEM AT THE D. C. COOK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 Enclosed please find a draft copy of the Risk-based Inspection Guide (RIG) for the Auxiliary feedwater System (AFWS) at the D. C. Cook nuclear power plant, Units 1 and 2. The guidance has been developed to help inspectors focus their activities on the risk significant AFWS components, and to provide them with descriptions of failure causes derived from events that have occurred at these plants as well as other PWRs. This is not a new inspection procedure; use of RIGS in normal inspection activities is covered in Manual Chapter 2515, Section 10, and Appendix C.
In order to complete the development of this RIG, we would like to have the enclosed draft reviewed by the Resident inspector. Any comments pertaining to accuracy, clarity, or the usefulness of this document would be most apfreciated, in order to meet 1.he schedular obligations of the RIGS program, please provide your comments to us before february 14, 1992. You may choose to fax jour comments, telephine them, or send them in writing.
To expedite the review process a copy of this letter with a duplicate copy of the draf t report are being forwarded separately to the office of the Resident Inspectors at the plant site.      If you have any questions about the enclosed draf,t report or the RlG program please do not hesitate to call me at (301) 504-1078, or FTS 964-1078.
