Berkow, Director Special and Standardization Project Directorate Division of PWR Licensing-B U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C. 20555 Re: Docket No. 50-133, OL-DPR-7 Humboldt Bay Power Plant, Unit No. 3 Response to NRC Concern Regarding Potential Deficiency in EEI Equipment

==Dear Mr. Berkow:==

PGandE has received a copy of NRC letter dated October 3,1985 (from G. G. Zech), addressed to Elma Engineering Inc. (EEI). The letter addresses potential hardware deficiencies in power supply units purchased from EEI and indicates that PGandE purchased one of these units in 1979. This letter addresses the potential deficiencies of the power supply with respect to Humboldt Bay Power Plant, Unit 3.
PGandE has reviewed the purchase orders for EEI equipment. A power supply from EEI was confirmed to have been purchased by PGandE for the Humboldt Bay Unit 3 nuclear facility. PGandE is not using and does not plan to use this power supply since the Humboldt facility is in the decommissioning process.
Therefore, the potential deficiencies associated with the power supply unit do not impact Humboldt.
No further action regarding the EEI power supply will be taken in response to the NRC letter.
Kindly acknowledge receipt of this material on the enclosed copy of this letter and return it in the enclosed addressed envelope.
Sincerely, fr cc:        P. B. Erickson J. B. Martin G. G. Zech-Humboldt Distribution Service List                                                                          [
