Dear Dr. Seaborg:

Notwithstanding the existence of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, I am receiving most dis-turbing reports from Arkansas about the increasing seriousness of the overall' pollution of the Arkansas River.

While I recognize that at the time of the Atomic Energy Commission's review of Arkansas Power and Light Company's application to construct the Russellville nuclear unit in Pope County that thermal effects from the plant were not within the jurisdiction '

of the AEC, I would appreciate any information you may i be able to furnish me regarding thermal contributions i

,N that the Russellville plant may have on the Arkansas '

River. I would further appreciate any information you may have on other contaminants which might be released as a consequence of the plant's operatio.n.
