This letter provides NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC's (hereafter, NextEra Energy Duane Arnold) 90-day response to Reference 1 for the Duane 0 Arnold Energy Center (DAEC).NextEra Energy Duane Arnold, LLC, 3277 DAEC Road, Palo, IA 52324 Document Control Desk June 8, 2012 Page 2 of 3 As stated below, NextEra Energy Duane Arnold currently intends to meet all of the specified response dates; however, due to numerous uncertainties concerning the scope of the required tasks, the availability of qualified vendor support, training, scheduling, and other unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to request an extension to any of these dates at a later time, if necessary.
Recommendation 2.1: Flooding Evaluations The response date for the DAEC's flood hazard evaluation was identified in Reference 2 as March 12, 2014 which corresponds to 2 years from the date of Reference

: 1. Specifically, an approach for developing an Integrated Assessment for DAEC will be submitted 60 days after the NRC endorses Integrated Assessment Guidance.
In addition, an Integrated Assessment report for DAEC, if it is necessary, will be submitted 2 years after the flood evaluation is submitted.
Recommendation 2.3: Flooding Walkdowns For Flooding Recommendation 2.3 (Walkdowns), Enclosure 4 of Reference 1 states that each licensee is to confirm that it will use the NRC-endorsed flooding walkdown procedure or provide a description of the process it will use.NextEra Energy Duane Arnold confirms that it will use the flooding walkdown procedure NEI 12-07, "Guidelines for Performing Verification Walkdowns of Plant Flood Protection Features," endorsed by Reference 3, as the basis for the flooding walkdowns at the DAEC.NextEra Energy Duane Arnold plans to comply with the response timeline in Enclosure 4 of Reference

Specifically, NextEra Energy Duane Arnold will submit a report documenting the results of its design basis flooding walkdowns at the DAEC on November 27, 2012, which corresponds to 180 days after NRC endorsement of the generic guidance.This letter makes no new commitments or changes to any existing commitments.
