Enclosed is an application received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), dated January 11. 2018, from Halliburton Energy Services Inc.. for a specific license (PXB217.00) to export Category 2 quantities of Americium-241/Beryllium and Cesjum-137 to Iraq. The sealed source will be used for of oil and gas well logging operations.

Since Iraq is on the embargoed destinations list (10 CFR Part 110.28), before taking action on this new request, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the requested export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended.Sine Peter J.
