REVISION OF SCHEDULE FOR REVIEW OF THE INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NOS. 2 AND 3, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION

==Dear Mr. Pollock:==
==Dear Mr. Pollock:==
Enclosed is a revised schedule for the review of the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3, license renewal application.

As discussed during the April 19 pre-hearing teleconference before the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel (transcript available at ML 101160416), this schedule has been updated to reflect a change in the date for the issuance of the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS). The staff plans to issue the FSEIS by the end of August 2010. This delay is a result of the staff time necessary to finalize the document.

As you are aware, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has received significantly more comments from stakeholders during the course of this environmental review than in any other license renewal review to date. If you have any questions on the revised schedule, please contact me at 301-415-2292.

Docket Nos. 50-247-LRl286-LR

Dear Administrative Judges:

Enclosed for your information is a letter from David J. Wrona (NRC Staff) to Joseph E. Pollock (Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc.), dated May 25,2010, attaching a revised schedule for the Staff's review of the Indian Point Units 2 and 3 license renewal application (also available in ADAMS at Accession No. ML101260536). As revised, the schedule anticipates issuance of the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on or before August 31, 2010, consistent with my remarks during the prehearing telephone conference of April 19, 2010 (Tr. 808).

SUBJECT:

REVISION OF SCHEDULE FOR REVIEW OF THE INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NOS. 2 AND 3, LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION

Dear Mr. Pollock:

Enclosed is a revised schedule for the review of the Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3, license renewal application. As discussed during the April 19 pre-hearing teleconference before the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel (transcript available at ML101160416), this schedule has been updated to reflect a change in the date for the issuance of the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS).

For questions on the environmental review, please contact Drew Stuyvenberg at 301-415-4006 or bye-mail at andrew.stuyvenberg@nrc.gov.

Sincerely, c) J 9 ~------..'
