/ U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION MATERIALS PROGRAMS TECHNICAL INFORMATION EXCHANGE PUBLIC MEETING (HYBRID)

On June 25, 26, and 27, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a hybrid observation public meeting with representatives from the nuclear industry for an exchange of technical information on the industrys ongoing materials programs, in particular as related to the integrity of reactor pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and piping. During the first two days of the meeting, the passive component materials related program updates, issues, operational, and ongoing research were discussed. On the third day of the meeting, a workshop focused on risk-informing materials related issues was held. The industry representatives included staff from the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) Owners Group (PWROG), the Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) Owners Group (BWROG),

licensees and vendor companies. Many of the licensee representatives also hold advisory roles to the EPRI Materials Reliability Program (MRP), EPRI BWR Vessel and Internals Project (BWRVIP), PWROG Materials Committee (MSC), EPRI Welding Repair and Technology Program (WRTC) and EPRI International Materials Research (IMR) committee. In addition, members of the public also participated by teleconference.
