20001 In the Matter of MAINE YANKEE ATOMIC POWER COMPANY (Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station)
Docket No. 50-309 (Spent Fuel)
Dear Messrs. Brown & Miller:
On July 29, 1982, I called Mr. John Garrity of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company to arrange a visit of the Maine Yankee Atomic Power Station for Commissioner Roberts on Saturday, August 7, 1982. This visit would be part of Mr. Roberts' ongoing efforts to familiarize himself with the various facilities that the Commission licenses.
Mr. Garrity indicated that while Mr. Roberts would be welcome, Licensee would prefer to limit the size of the party during the tour in view of the limited time available in Mr. Roberts' schedule. Therefore, Licensee would prefer that representatives of the Intervenors in the Maine Yankee spent fuel pool proceeding not accompany Commissioner Rpberts on his tour.
It is my understanding that Intervenors are likely to be given the opportunity to visit the facility in conjunction with the licensing board review.
Ir! view of the above, Mr. Roberts plans to go ahead with his visit in the manner suggested by Licensee. He does not intend to discuss any substantive matters at issue in-the proceeding. Moreover, he plans to serve on the parties to the spent fuel pool proceeding a report describing his visit.
I trust that this procedure will be helpful to you.
Sincerely, O
