{{#Wiki_filter:The staff is proposing an expanded policy for digital instrumentation and control (I&C) common-cause failures (CCFs). The proposed policy augments, rather than replaces, the current digital I&C CCF policy. The flowchart below illustrates that the proposed policy would continue to allow any approach that would be acceptable under the current policy.
The proposed expanded policy would thus provide for two paths, the current path and a new risk-informed path, to address digital I&C CCFs.
Proposed Expanded Policy for Digital I&C CCFs Current Path                              Risk-Informed Path Point 1 SRM-SECY-93-087, Point 1 (Clarified)
Point 2                                Point 2 SRM-SECY-93-087, Point 2              Risk-Informed Approach (Clarified)
Point 3 Point 3 SRM-SECY-93-087, Point 3 Risk-Informed Approach (Clarified)
