WITHDRAWAL OF AMENDMENT REQUESTS - DUANE ARNOLD ENERGY CENTER (TAC NOS M98839, M98840, MA0701)

Dear Mr. Liu:

By letters dated May 9,1997 (NG-97-0846, NG-97-0847), and January 9,1998 (NG-98-0016),

l you applied for three amendments to Facility Operating License No. DPR-49 for the Duane Arnold Energy Center (DAEC). The proposeo changes would have modified the facility technical specifications (TS) by (1) revising the definitions of Limiting Safety System Setting l

and Instrument / Channel Calibration; (2) revising the definition of Limiting Conditions for Operation (LCO); and (3) revising the LCO for primary containment isolation valves. By letter

dated May 22,1998, the NRC issued Amendment No. 223 for the DAEC which converted the j

existing TS to the improved TS and incorporated the proposed changes discussed above.

Therefore, by letter dated July 31,1998, you withdrew the three amendment requests described above.

The Commission has filed the enclosed Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendmer.t to Facility Operating License with the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
