FAILURE OF REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SEAL At approximately 1:00 p.m., August 16, 1976, the Arkansas Nuclear Unit I reactor coolant pump "D" seal failed, causing a leak of approximately' 25 gpm. The plant was shut down immediately to replace the damaged seal and to determine the cause of failure.
