                                                                                      -- J O W RE:    FOIA Request Concerning Records Related to the American Chemical Society Meeting on September 9-12, 1986.

==Dear Mr. Grimsley:==

A    symposium    on    " Chemical    Phenomena      Associated          with Radioactivity Releases During Severe Nuclear Plant Accidents" was held on September 9-12, 1986, at Anaheim, California.                              The symposium was sponsored in part based on an NRC grant to the American Chemical Society, and was held as part of the 192nd ACS National Meeting.          According to the NRC          " Weekly    Information Report" (2 October 1986, Enclosure E), over 40% of the papers presented at the symposium were given by NRC contractors.
Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, please make available at the Commission's Washington,              D.C.,  Public Document Room, records in the following categories:
A. A copy of the proposal to the NRC on which basis the NRC made its grant to partially fund the symposium.
B. A copy of the grant documents to the ACS.
C. A copy of all papers presented at the Symposium which were based on NRC-funded work or which were wholly or partially sponsored by the NRC.
D. A copy of      all  other  papers    presented at        the Symposium.
E. A  copy  of  all    " trip  reports"    concerning        the symposium which were prepared by NRC personnel and/or NRC contractor personnel.

,                                    If there are any questions concerning this FOIA request, please contact me at (408) 266-2716. Your attention to this request is appreciated.
Sincerely, Steven C. Sholly-Associate Consultant}}
