: 1. One (1) copy of Application for Withholding, AW-88-052 (Non-Proprietary).
The enclosed information is submitted in response to Staff's request (reference) for Westinghouse to update RESAR-SP/90 PDA Module 2, "Regulatory Conformance", dated November 1983. This submittal contains our response as to how the SP/90 design addresses the sixty-four (64) outstanding safety issues identified in Table 4 of the Generic Issue Management Control System (First Quarter FY-88 Update), dated March 4, 1988. The information contained herein constitutes the first step in updating Module 2 to completely address the criteria of the Severe Accident Policy Statement.
Additional submittals will provide a reassessment of those USI's, GSI's, New Generic Issues and TMI Action Plan Items addressed in our November 1983 submittal and all those generic safety issues that have been identified and

categorized since that initial submittal. Westinghouse will consider the evolution of issues and their resolution, and will show that the SP/90 design currently conforms to regulatory requirements or provide commitments to ensure conforming to requirements at later design / licensing stages.

Therefore, it is requested that the Westinghouse proprietary information attached hereto be handled on a confidential basis and be withheld from public disclosure.
