Monthly Operational Overview for January 1997:
The plant began the month operating at full power.                                                                                    j Testing of the "A" and "B" Standby Gas Treatment System filters performed on January 8 and 10,1997, resulted in a brief              l Limiting Condition for Operation in each case due to the need for refurbishment of the charcoal. At the end of the month i
these events were being evaluated for 10 CFR 50.73 reportability. A Licensee Event Report was also in preparation for an              i issue relating to Main Steam Line Radiation Monitor setpoints. (LER 97-01, pending).
Due to an increasing trend in unidentified drywell leakage, the plant commenced a voluntary planned shutdown on January 11 to investigate. The generator was taken offline at 1542. At the start of the month, the leakage had been 0.4 gpm, and at          ;
the time of the shutdown it was above 0.8 gpm. The Technical Specification limit is 5.0 gpm. A body-to-bonnet leak in a              l 3/4" manual isolation valve in the Residual Heat Removal System was subsequently discovered. Repairs required the plant              l to proceed to cold shutdown condition, and the valve was subsequently replaced. Plant stanup commenced the morning of                ,
February 16, and the generator was placed on the grid at 0521 on February 17, and full power operation soon resumed. The plant was offline for 133 hours,39 minutes.
                                                                                                                                          ) I Leakage at a Feed Pump discharge check valve prompted the plant to initiate a downpower late on January 31. The pump was subsequently removed from service in February, and the valve repaired.
