OF JULY 30, 2019 PUBLIC MEETING WITH ROBATEL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC TO DISCUSS A NEW TYPE B NON-FISSILE PACKAGE

Background===

This was a category 1 public meeting between Robatel Technologies, LLC (Robatel), and U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to discuss a new Type B non-fissile package.

Regulatory commitments were not made at the meeting. The meeting was noticed on June 20, 2019 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML19172A109). The list of meeting attendees is provided in Enclosure 1. The publicly available meeting presentation slides are provided as Enclosure 3.

Meeting Summary On July 30, 2019, NRC staff held a partially closed public meeting with Robatel representatives.

The discussion followed the agenda provided in Enclosure 2. After the conclusion of the public portion of the meeting, Robatel provided information about the proposed contents and their preliminary design for the new Type B non-fissile package. Robatel also discussed their proposed approach for evaluating dose rates external to the new Type B non-fissile package and their preliminary results. NRC staff and Robatel extensively discussed the content definition, Robatels approach to modeling the contents within the proposed design of the cask and their preliminary dose rate results. Finally, the meeting adjourned at 3 P.M.
