Dear Mr. Marion:
Consistent with our previous communication, I would like to extend a formal invitation to you to participate as a panel member for a Break-out Panel discussion on Voluntary Industry Initiatives (VIIs) in Lieu of Regulatory Action, during the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions Twelfth Annual Regulatory Information Conference 2000 (RIC 2000), sponsored by the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The RIC 2000 will be held Monday, March 27, through Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at the Capital Hilton (16th and K Streets NW, Washington DC 20036, Tel: 202-393-1000, Fax: 202-639-5784). The VII Break-out session will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2000, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Congressional / Senate Rooms, and will focus on the issues brought out during the last three public meetings on this issue, as well as those found in SECY 99-063 and the associated SRM, and stakeholder concerns. I will be the facilitator for the VII Break-out session. Besides yourself, the proposed panel includes the following individuals: Bob Hermann (NRC), Carl Terry (BWRVIP), George Stramback (GE), Ray Shadis (New England Coalition on Nuclear Pollution), and Dr. Andrew C.
Kadak (President of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) / Kadak Associates, Inc.). The agenda of this breakout session will include a brief introduction by Mr. Hermann and then open discussions by the panel/audience regarding VIIs.
