In your letter to Gary Holahan, dated September 13, 2001, you asked that the NRC provide by October 15, 2001, any additional regulatory information on format, content, or process for developing the implementing guidance document. At this time, the NRC has no additional regulatory information to provide beyond that included in my {{letter dated|date=July 31, 2001|text=July 31, 2001, letter}} to you.
Additionally, we find that the proposed meetings included in the schedule for development of the NFPA 805 implementing guidance enclosed with your {{letter dated|date=August 28, 2001|text=letter dated August 28, 2001}}, are appropriate. We plan to schedule a meeting with the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards when a final draft of the guidance is available. From the schedule NEI provided, a final draft should be available December 2002.
I and my staff look forward to working with NEI on the development of the guidance document.
Please contact Mr. Eric Weiss of my staff at 301-415-3264 concerning questions regarding this response.

ADOPTION OF NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (NFPA) 805 PERFORMANCE-BASED STANDARD FOR FIRE PROTECTION FOR LIGHT WATER REACTOR ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANTS 2001 EDITION

Dear Mr. Marion:

In your letter to Gary Holahan, dated September 13, 2001, you asked that the NRC provide by October 15, 2001, any additional regulatory information on format, content, or process for developing the implementing guidance document. At this time, the NRC has no additional regulatory information to provide beyond that included in my July 31, 2001, letter to you.

Additionally, we find that the proposed meetings included in the schedule for development of the NFPA 805 implementing guidance enclosed with your letter dated August 28, 2001, are appropriate.

Sincerely,

/RA/
