20555 REQUALIFICATION TRAINING SCHEDULE FOR LICENSED OPERATORS SALEM GENERATING STATION

Dear Mr. Varga:

In a letter signed for you by Mr. J. D. Neighbors and dated November 30, 1981, you approved our proposal to change-the annual requalification training cycle for licensed operators, such that it would begin on approximately September 1st of each year.

This change gave our program better continuity and facilitated easier scheduling of licensed personnel during the active vacation period.

On May 1st of this year PSE&G employees represented by the IBEW went on strike.

The strike interrupted the last group in requalification training for the 1981-82 cycle.

The strike ended as the active vacation period was starting.

Due to vacations and the phasing back in of IBEW personnel, we were unable to reassemble the group of individuals whose requalifi-cation training was interrupted.

That group has been rescheduled to complete the 1981-82 cycle from August 30 through October 15, 1982.

The 1982-83 cycle would then begin on October 18, 1982, and run through July 1, 1983.

This change does not decrease the scope of the requalification program.

It is our intention to return' to the September 1st annual cycle start date in 1983.
