The enclosure documents the presentation made to members of the Staff and Inspection and Enforcement on July 18,19'[9 in Bethesda, Maryland. The presentation provided an update of the status of the act4<== previously discussed in References 1, 2 and 3; the remedial work in sarogress or r'==d; the schedule of activities; the results of the cause investigation; the QA/QC aspects; and the licensing activities and changes to -the FSAR.

Future 50 55(e) reports vill discuss the following in acre detail:

Results of further investigation of the leaking air lirse in the tank fam area, and settle =ent criteria for the borated water storage tanks and the lines into the auziliary building.

b.

Design bases to cceply with the intent of the draft Standard Reviev Plan on Devate:ing.

c.

A Quality Assurance Plan for i=plementing the perme site devatering system.

' DESCRIPTION (Including references):

States Terminal B3cck disconnect link failures were identified by CPCo during the elcetrical checkout of non-O-listed start-up transformer (0XO3A). Thirty-eight (38) individual dis-connect links out of 156 examined were found to be cracked..

Subsequent investigation by Bechtel on four cubicles in 4160 volt' Switchgear 2A06 revealed seven individual States Terminal Blocks with cracked disconnect links (refertv2ce NCR 2362 issued 7/20/79._ The blocks are identifled as follows:

1. Determine what effects cracked links in States Ter=inal Blocks could have on plant safety if uncorrected.

2. Determine cause for the cracked disconnect links.

3. Determine magnitude of problem.
