Limerick Units 1 & 2 Potential Seismic 10CFR50, Part 21 Report dated January 16, 1980 Supplement #1-Limerick Diesel Generators 6, 7 & 8 Gentlemen:
The deviation described in our January 16, 1980 Part 21 report was observed on the 6th of 8 Limerick units,     Units 6 and 7 have been corrected by fitting shims at the bolted interface between the diesel generator skid and the heat 4 exchanger mounting feet and between the two heat exchangers mounting feet. The shims have been tack welded in place to permit retaining the fit in the event of disassembly.

The 8th Limerick unit has been corrected by the heat exchangar vendor machining the warped feet flat and inserting fitted shims in lieu of the spacers previously used.

The shims are held in place by the bolts.

The above modifications result in bolted joints with a physical configura-tion identtcal to that analyzed in the seismic report.

All three units are free of the reported potential defect.

A written procedure has been prepared for modification as necessary for Units 1-5, shipped prior to detection of t&a reported deviation.

These units will be modified if and as necessary prict to t.eing put into service.

A copy of this report is being forwarded to Philadelphia Electric Company.
