Hess, MD Corporate Medical Director (617)424-3478 Performance Data Summary of Management Actions for 6 Months Ending December 31, 1990 During the second six months of 1990 we have had four positive pre-badging tests, all on contractor employees. All of these applications for unescorted access were denied for fitness for duty reasons.

Three positive random tests also occurred. One was on a contractor who was denied unescorted access for fitness for duty reasons,- and was subsequently terminated by his employer.

Two were on Boston Edison employees, both of whom were referred to the Employee Assistance Program for evaluation and rehabilitation, and who subsequently hao unescorted access restared.

All follow-up testing to date has been negative, q

Two "for cause" tests were administered secondary to managerial referral.

One was negative, and the other was positive for alcohol.

The individual who tested positive was referred to tha Employee Assistance Program-for treatment,

'and was then returned to service.

Over the six months-ending December 31, 1990, 37 specimens were found on integrity checks to have creatinines less than 200 mg/L, and three specimens were found to have specific gravity greater than 1.025.

All of the individuals were recalled for repeat specimen collection in an unannounced fashion.

Thirty six of the repeats were negative for drugs, and had normal integrity checks.

Four specimens again.had low creatinines, although negative for drugs These individuals were again called in an unannounced fashion and another-observed sample was obtained; all 'o these were both negative for drugs and had normal integrity checks, Our positive test rate during random testing remains'very low with a total of three positive tests in 733 (or 0.41%) for the second half of 1990, and three positives in 1,370 random tests (or 0.22%) for all of calendar 1990.

-No significant problems have been encountered and no events have taken place which would require telephone notification under 10 CFR 26.73.
