This refers to the quality assurance (QA) inspection cond' ucted by.

Dr. J. Jankovich, Ms..M. Lusardi and Mr. C. MacDcnald of this office and-Mr. B. W. Brown of Idaho National Engineering Laboratory on August 21-22, 1990.

The inspection included a review of activities conducted at the TRUPACT Assembly Facility. At the conclusion of the inspection,'the observations were discussed-with members of your staff identified in the enclosed report.

Areas examined during the inspection are discussed in the enclosed report.

This inspection consisted of ultrasonic measurements of wall thickness of the i

TRUPACT-II packagings, examination of weld radiographs, examination of procedures-

!

and representative records,= interviews with personnel, and observations by the-spectors.

During this inspection it was found that the implementation of your QA program

'

met the NRC requirements. No violations or nonconformance with regulatory requirements were identified for the new production of units to the TRUPACT-II

- i design.

In regard to the TRUPACT-II units and components with less-than-nominal wall thickness measurements that are in a hold status, please advise me should

.

i this status change or when the units are repaired.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
