It was indicated in the letter that some snubbers were calculated to exceed their rated loads and three recirculation nozzles were calculated to exceed their allowable values. | |||
Hence, Detroit Edison has replaced the overloaded snubbers (15 Kip) with stiffer ones (55 Kip). | |||
The increased stiffness of the snubbers was verified by analysis to correct the problem. | |||
In addition, the three recirculation nozzles and recirculation pump have been requalified by analy-sis for the new loadings. | |||
The results of these analy-ses are available for audit should you desire. | |||
As a consequence, all piping stresses for the required NSSS piping are now within ASME Code allowables for the seismic reassessment without exception.
