Dear Mr. Messerbach:

Recently, you requested a copy of the Nuclear Regulatory Cerrission's (NRC) final regulations for nuclear reactor / facility decommissioning. We are in the process of revising our regulations with respect to decommissioning.

These proposed revisions to our regulations were published in the Federal Register on February 11, 1985. A copy is enclosed for your information.

The public consnent period fo" these proposed revitions has been extended from May 13, 1985 to July IP, 1985.

Comments received after that date will be considered if it is practical to do so.

Followino our review of public comments on the proposed revisions the NRC will issue the final revisions to the regulations for decomissioning. We will send you a copy of that final regulation revision when it is available.

These proposed revisions to our regulations were published in the Federal Reafster on February 11, 1985. A copy is enclosed for your information.

The public cornent period for these proposed revisions has been extended from May 13, 1985 to July 12, 1985. Comments received after that date will be considered if it is practical to do so.

Following our review of public coments on the proposed revisions the NRC will issue the final re isions to the regulations for decommissioning. Ve will send you a copy of that final regulation revision when it is available.
