l DESCRIPTION:

The source, NH 1132/0/150, Model 1 manufactured by Saunders Roe Development, consists of radioactive tritium gas sealed in a l

clear borosilicate (hard) glass capsula. Dowty Electronics Co.

installs these sources into special holders that Boeing Vertol imports and fits into the handle of toggle switches in the CH-47 aircraft (helicopter). These aircraft are then delivered to the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom.

j The two switches containing the devices are:

• Battery Emergency Switch (Boeing Vertol Part Number 1260.2.N.1.14C)

• Console Lighting Switch (Boeing Vertol Part Number 1260.1.N.14C)

EXTERNAL RADIATION:

Radiation test data provided by Boeing Vertol shows no detectable radiation levels above background, measured 4 inches (10 cm) from the surface of the device.

OUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL!

• The device meets the United Kingdom Defense Standard, DEFSTAN 62-4.

• The sealed source meets British Standards Institutions Specifications BS 5288:1976 and BS 6002:1979.
