SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-382/98 01

Dear Mr. Dugger:

A routine, announced NRC inspection was conducted January 1215,1998, at your Waterford

Steam Electric Station, Unit 3, reactor facility. The inspection focused on your molid radioactive

waste management program and the radioactive waste / materials transportation program. The

enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.

The inspection concluded that you had implemented very good solid radioactive waste

management and radioactive waste / materials transportation programs,

in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its

enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.

Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to discuss them

with you.
