COCr Office of the Secretary U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission Docketing and Service Division Washington, D.C. 20555 l
Docket l's 50-275-OLA and 50-323-OLA To the Secretary, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission:
Please consider our objection to a Pacific Gas and Electric plan to store at its Diablo Canyon Nuclear plant site all of the high level radioactive wastes produced there.
We are San Luis Obispo residents, and having PG&E neglect the surrounding inhabitants when considering such action spurs us into writing this letter to you.
We won't accept PG&E's plan to store five times as much radioactive vaste as the spent fuel pools were designed to hold.
Storage of nuclear wastes next to an active earthquake fault is insane.
We are appalled that waste will be stored in racks that can crash into each other, triggering a serious nuclear accident!
PG&E acknowledges this risk.
They are willing to accept it. We are not.
It is becoming clear that the federal government will never establish a perranent storage facility for these wastes as long as the NRC routinely permits them to be stored at plant sites!
If this is the best PG&E can do with its vastes, cramed dangerously close together, next to an active earthquake fault in makeshift facilities - they have no business p.hing nuclear wastest Respectfully yours, w
