Subject:

Review of the Draft Environmental Assessment and Safety Evaluation for the Request related to an alternative disposal request from Vermont Yankee to NRC for disposal of wastewater Mr. Parrott, The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has completed the review of the above request and the associated Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Findings of No Significant Impact (FONSI) document and the Draft Safety Evaluation for the Request (SER) document and has no concerns with the technical content of the assessment EA-FONSI or SER. Although DEQ has no technical comments, it does have concerns that two of the references were not available for review.

The Two referenced documents that were unable to be reviewed pertained to US Ecologys Site-Specific Dose Assessment Methodology, Revision 3 and 3a. Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML18085A238 and ML18124A017.

DEQ appreciates the opportunity to review and comment on the Draft EA-FONSI and SER via email, no hard copy to follow. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Brian English, Hazardous Waste Permit Supervisor, at (208) 373-0425 or Brian.English@deq.idaho.gov.
