==Dear Mr. Foster:==
Thank you for providing comments and participating in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission=s (NRC) 2007 Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) annual self-assessment. The self-assessment is used to determine whether the ROP has been effective in meeting program goals and achieving its intended outcomes, as well as to identify areas needing improvement. Identified areas for improvement are then evaluated and incorporated, if appropriate, into the key ROP program areas of performance indicators, inspection, significance determination process, and assessment. The self-assessment results are documented in SECY-08-0046, AReactor Oversight Process Self-Assessment for Calendar Year 2007" (ADAMS Accession Number ML080460148), which was discussed with the Commission during a public meeting on June 4, 2008.
To more directly address and respond to stakeholder comments, the NRC has consolidated the public comments received and provided a comprehensive response to the comments. This document, entitled AConsolidated Response to the 2007 Reactor Oversight Process External Survey@ (ML081440771), along with the Commission paper (ML080460148) and the annual ROP performance metric report (ML080350368), will be posted to the ROP Web page and are attached for your convenience.
