August 13 , 2018 Enclosed is an application (XB1337), dated July 16, 2018 , from Thermo Gamma Metrics , LLC , received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission , for the export of two sealed sources , each containing 0.0012 TBq of Californium-252 , contained in an element analyzer device used to measure material composition

Being that Iraq is on the embargoed destinations list (10 CFR Part 110.28), before taking action on this request , we would appreciate your views , in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch , as to whether the requested export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 , as amended. Please note that the Authorization Certificate for Importing Radioactive Sources , submitted with the application , is expiring in November 2018; and th t the applicant is coordinating with its customer in Iraq to have the certificate renewed.
