NUREG-2224, DRY STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION OF HIGH BURNUP SPENT NUCLEAR FUEL - FINAL REPORT The purpose of this memorandum is to provide the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) a copy of the proposed Final NUREG-2224, Dry Storage and Transportation of High Burnup Spent Nuclear Fuel (ML19204A285). The Draft NUREG-2224 was published for public comment in the Federal Register on August 9, 2018 (83 FR 39475). The public comment period was reopened on October 10, 2018 (83 FR 50965).
The staff has considered the public comments received on the draft report in its development of the proposed final report. In addition, the public comments and the staffs proposed responses to the public comments are provided in the enclosed document titled, Responses to Public Comments on Draft NUREG-2224, (ML19204A284).
The proposed Final NUREG-2224, and the public comment responses are provided to the ACRS in preparation for the meeting on August 22, 2019 (with the ACRS subcommittee on Metallurgy & Reactor Fuels). Please note that both documents are for internal use only, as the staff has yet to complete its review. We request the ACRS determine whether it wishes to review the proposed final NUREG-2224 prior to final issuance by the staff.
