==Dear Mr. Bergman:==

Please accept this letter of thanks for hosting the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards visit on July 23 to 25, 2019. You and your outstanding team provided a warm welcome, detailed and informative briefings on your reactor design, scenario runs at your simulator facility, and tours of the upper module mock-up and the NuScale integral system test facility.
The scenarios that you ran in the 12-module simulator facility were especially informative and will be very helpful in informing our future NuScale design certification application review efforts. We also appreciate the efforts to organize our visit to the test facility at Oregon State University (OSU).
We are very thankful for the personal attention that Dr. Jose Reyes, Mr. Dale Atkinson and Mr. Cyrus Afshar provided to our group. NuScale management and staff worked diligently to ensure that our questions were answered accurately and completely. The opportunity to interact directly with NuScale subject matter experts was of great value to all of us, and we found everyone to be very knowledgeable about the proposed design and operation. The professionalism, responsiveness and preparation for this visit by your staff was outstanding, particularly the efforts of Mr. Ross Snuggerud, Mr. Zack Houghton, Mr. Zackary Rad, Mr.
Mike Melton and your licensing support team. We look forward to reviewing the NRC staffs future safety evaluation reports that should incorporate additional information provided to address the identified open items. The ACRS also looks forward to future public interactions with NuScale and NRC staff on these issues.
Please convey our thanks to the NuScale staff involved, including Dr. Eric Young and Mr. Bill Koski at OSU. The members very much appreciate the time and effort you and your staff took to make this a successful and worthwhile event.
Sincerely,
