Enclosed is an application (XSNM3790), dated January 22, 2018, received by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, from the U.S. Department of Energy, New Brunswick Laboratory Program Office. The application requests the export of 0.1 kilograms of uranium-235 for use in the calibration of analytical instruments and/or as a tracer applied to safeguards analyses at the Nuclear Material Control Center in Japan Assurances from Japan that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of respective agreements for cooperation, are required.

Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.
