ARRESTS RESULTING FROM DRUG INVESTIGATION Ths San Luis Obispo Narcotics Task Force, a joint local / state force, announced the results of an undercover drug investigation at the Diablo Canyon plant in~ a press conference this estning. Nine people have been charged with felony sale of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamines off site. Eight of those charged are contractor employees; the ninth did not work at the plant. No licensee employees were charged.
Thn licensee requested the investigation, and cooperated fully. The eight month invastigation turned up no evidence of onsite drug use. The licensee is questioning some contractor employees and one licensee employee whose names were included in the investigation rzports, but who were not charged-with crimes by the task force. No senior or management paraonnel, operators or plant maintenance personnel are involved.
Thn licensee is responding to media queries. Region V has also responded, but is directing cost queries to the licensee.
