COOPER NUCLEAR STATION DRUG TESTING RESULTS, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) informed Region IV on July 9, 1987, that the first instance of a Cooper Nuclear Station employee testing positive for                 '
i drugs (cocaine) under the random sampling provision of the NPPD Fitness for Duty Program occurred this week. The employee was a non-licensed I and C technician-whose access privileges have been. suspended. NPPD also indicated that since the program's inception in December 1986, three contractor employees have been denied access to the site'as a result of positive results from drug testing which is an integral part of the initial screening process necessary for-granting of unescorted access privileges. One additional contractor has also tested positive as a result of random _ testing and his access privileges (which were to protected areas only)'were removed.                                                   ,
The licensee does not anticipate they will issue'a news release. The NRC does not plan to issue a news release.
