TURBINE BUILDING PIPE SUPPORT DAMAGE On August 31, 1987, licensee maintenance personnel discovered. evidence of pipe movement and damage to pipe hangers and supports'on portions of the emergency drain lines between the feedwater heaters and the main condenser in the turbine building. The damage on a 12-inch drain line and an 8-inch line includes supports pulled from the wall or floor, weld failure on an I-beam support, insulation damage,'and breakage of a valve handle on a level control
     . valve. The damage is primar'ly located in the 45 feet of piping closest to the condenser.
The unit has been in a maintenance outage since July 31, 1987. The cause of the damage has not been determined nor is it known when the damage occurred. The licensee's investigation
       -is continuing.
The resident inspectors are monitoring the licensee's action. The licensee has not
      ' determined if the damage evaluation and repair will affect the duration of the. current outage. The Regional Administrator will meet with the licensee prior to startup to assure that all issues pertaining to startup including this pipe hanger damage are adequately resolved.
The State of Michigan will be notified.
