FATALITY DURING OUTAGE                                                                               '
A contractor employee was found dead at 9:35 p.m., December 14, 1985, in the reactor                          -
building basement. He had apparently fallen approximately 40 feet from the exterior of the torus, striking and damaging a valve during the fall. The body was found by licensee personnel who searched the area after a relative had called to inquire about the employee.
He had been working for a contractor which was shotblasting and decontaminating the int 3rior of tha torus. The unit has been shut down since October 28, 1985, for replacement of recirculation system and piping.
The Grundy County Sheriff's Department and Coroner were notified.
Thera has been local news media interest.
The State of Illinois will be notified.
Region III (Chicago) was notified of the death about 9:40 p.m. by the Headquarters Duty Officer. This information is current as of 9 a.m., December 16, 1985.
