PREPARATIONS FOR HURRICANE FLOYD
,   At 2:00 p.m. on September 15, 1999, Hurricane Floyd was located
; approximately 216 miles southeast of Brunswick Nuclear Station.          The canter of the hurricane was estimated near latitude 30.6 North and longitude 79.1 West.      The storm was moving north-northwest at 14 mph.
Maximum winds were 125 mph.                                                        ,
Both units of the Brunswick Nuclear Plant have been shutdown and the o un:.to are being taken to a cold shutdown condition. Other site preparations continued to be taken to secure loose material.
i Landfall of Hurricane Floyd may occur within the next 15 hours at the no:: thorn South Carolina or Southern North Carolina shore. Hurricance i
l fo::ce wind is predicated to reach the site at approximately 8:00 p.m.        At   i Brunswick, three resident inspectors are onsite monitoring activities.
The licensee has activated the Emergency Operations Facility (EOF) and the Technical Support Center (TSC) . Site coverage will also be provided by the NRC resident staff at Hatch, Vogtle, Summer, Robinson, McGuire and Ca:awba to monitor licensee activities at these facilities.
At GE Wilmington, the chemical process has been shut down. Site security will be established at 3:00 p.m. The Emergency Control Center is being et.iffed at this time.
The Ragion II State Liaison Officer has been dispatched to the North Ca:rolina' Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Raleigh, NC. State            4 Situation Reports can be obtained from the following internet address:
