EMPLOYEE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE USE (UPDATE)
Licensee investigation of alleged off-site drug use by two operations department pIrsonnel has led to termination of their employment. The shift clerk resigned early in the investigation, whereas the senior reactor, operator was discharged on September 30 after he refused to cooperate in the investigation.         Both employees had been suspended from duty and from site access at the outset of the investigation.
Analysis of urine samples provided by these employees indicated positive for a controlled substance.
The licensee's investigation has not implicated other employees. Operations management, from the Site Director down to all SR0's, have been r-equired to provide urine samples. Nearly all analyses are completed and all results thus far are n:gative. A spring 1986 plan'by GPUN to implement random sampling for all employees is on hold due to legal challenges by the worker's union.
Some media interest is ongoing. The licensee issued a brief update press release on l  10/1/86, which did not include job titles of the two individuals. Region I is l  responding to media inquiries.
