Reactor Trip - Media Interest Millstone Unit I tripped at 12:07 p.m. on August 13, 1985, ending 374 days cf continuous operation. The reactor trip and main steam line isolation occurred as a result of indicated steam line area high radiation. This condition resulted from air introduction into the feedwater system while placing a demineralizer in service. ECCS did not actuate and no abnormal releases occurred. Post-trip RCS samples do not indicate fuel damage. The resident inspector is onsite following licensee's actions.
Media interest has occurred, because the licensee issued a press release.
The State of Connecticut has been informed.
