Under the :,ule the licensee would have to ensure compliance with the cask's Certificate of Conpliance, evaluate the storage under
                                                                      '1CCFR50.59 to ensure' there are no site specific unreviewed safety
                                                                      . questions, notify the NIC, and modify procedures and plans as '
appropriate. Rese actions provide assurance of the acceptability of storing nuclear fuel in a previously NIC-approved cask at a specific plant. no proposed rule would allow more efficient use of IEC ard b                                                                      utility resources by not requiring NIC review of each licensee's plan h ,                                                                    to use approved casks unless a site specific safety question is                                            !
identified. As such, the proposed rule benefits the NIC, the industry, and the consumer.
